IAIN MURRAY
Third Prize winner Iain Murray
Back to Home Page The
audience was equally surprised and delighted when Mayor van Zetten announced the name of the third placegetter, Iain Murray, for his short story The Seven Summits. Ian, who is from Victoria, was present in the Launceston Town Hall on the afternoon
for the announcement and was able to step forward and say a few words. Iain says he has been writing for a little while now. "It's
been over a year," he said, continuing that he had done some creative writing at university. He really enjoys reading - and writing. On writing, "It is something I want to pursue," he said. Having
Initially written his story Iain then began modifying and editing the work over time. "You write it one week and a month later it's 'what was I thinking!" Such is the process of writing.
Ian went on to say, "Competitions provide writers a good opportunity to experiment with their writing, especially form and style and to find their voice as writers." http://www.inmurray.com/
